Top Home Barista Combinations

We frequently get asked great questions such as “what do you recommend for a chocolately coffee” or “I’d like to try something that goes well with milk” and our response is always the same: first please tell us how you brew!

We always love to give coffee recommendations but there isn’t always a straightforward answer as the style and method of brewing will often have an impact on how the coffee tastes. To help decide what works best for you, we put our home coffee brewing skills to the test and came up with our top home barista combinations.

Sage Barista Pro X Peru Classic Espresso

A more traditional tasting coffee with low acidity, our Peru Classic Espresso is arguably our most ‘chocolately’ coffee and makes a delicious flat white. We lengthen the roasting compared to our other beans meaning lots of body, which stands up nicely in the espresso machine and creates an intense, rich flavour that kicks through the milk.

Bodum Cafetiere X Colombia Gran Galope

The cafetiere has been a staple brewer for generations and is perfect if you’re looking for a larger pot to see you through until lunch. We recommend brewing it with our Colombian - an omni roast, a great all-rounder and an extremely balanced coffee. Use a medium grind size if you are used to adding a drop of milk to your cafetiere.

Hario V60 Dripper X Ethiopia Tega and Tuga

A drip filter is often our afternoon brew method of choice and with the right coffee it can be a great replacement for a cup of tea. Our Ethiopia Tega & Tula is a must try for a V60 - lot’s of jasmine, tea-like flavours that won’t weigh you down through the afternoon slump.

Pezzetti Stovetop X Brazil Fazenda Sertao

A stovetop is a simple yet stylish brewer that gives you the closest output to an espresso. Our Brazil, one of our most popular coffees, has a chocolate and nut flavour profile, which intensifies into something resembling ‘melted snickers’ when made with milk (honestly - give it a try!). Also one to try if you have a Sage espresso machine.
